Dr. Kristina Ivanova

Scientific profile

Dr. Kristina Ivanova is a post-doctoral researcher in the Group of Molecular and Industrial Biotecnology at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. She graduated in biotechnology at University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Bulgaria and obtained her PhD at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in polymers and biopolymers. During the PhD, the focus of her research was on the development of adequate non-antibiotic strategies to prevent bacterial biofilm formation on indwelling medical devices. She has participated in 4 EU and national (in Spain) research projects and contributed to 17 peer-reviewed papers and 5 book chapters. Her current research activities involve fabrication of biological nanoparticles for cosmetic and biomedical applications, as well as development of functional nanostructured coatings on medical devices.
