Dr. Arnau Bassegoda P.
Dr. Arnau Bassegoda is graduated in biology (2006), MSc in Advanced Microbiology (2008) and PhD in Enviromental Microbiology and Biotechnology (2011) by University of Barcelona. He has developed his research career within the context of enzyme biotechnology. His PhD research was focused on the identification and rational protein design of novel lipases and its use in biocatalysis. As a postdoctoral researcher, he studied enzymatic systems for the reduction of CO2 due to its interest in the generation of carbon-neutral fuels. As a researcher he has gained international working experience, first as a PhD student, with a research stay in the group of Prof. Uwe Bornscheuer at University of Greifswald, and once completed the PhD, working as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Dr. Judy Hirst at the MRC-Mitochondrial Biology Unit. His current research is focused on developing new enzyme-based products for its use in the antimicrobial resistance infection context.
