Dr. Eva Ramón P.

Dr. Eva Ramon is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Grup de Biotecnologia Molecular i Industrial funded by the Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research. Her research is focused on the study of the visual G-protein coupled receptors rhodopsin and cone pigments and their relationships with visual diseases. She graduated in December 2004 at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Her scientific career has been funded by several national competitive fellowships and her project called “Molecular Mechanisms of the color visual system” was financed by a Career Integration Grant from the European Commission.

Currently she is applying her knowledge on receptors and ligand-receptor interaction to use the interaction between bacterial communication molecules and their receptors, either in gram positive (intracellular) or gram negative (extracellular) bacteria against microbial infection. Dr Ramon is also involved on designing a point of care device for wound infected detection.
