Dr. Elisabetta Aracri

Scientific profile

Dr. Elisabetta Aracri graduated from “La Sapienza” University in Rome in Industrial Chemistry with specialization in Organic chemistry and Biochemistry and earned a PhD from UPC in Textile and Paper Engineering. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Aracri investigated the potential of biotechnology for improving several aspects of pulp and paper manufacture process in the frame of three Spanish and one EU funded projects. Her thesis work focused on the application of different enzymatic systems for the functionalization and the biobleaching of non-wood lignocellulosic fibers with a view to developing novel, high-value products by means of environmentally friendly processes. Her research led to the publication of 11 articles in well-ranked journals including Bioresource Technology, Carbohydrate Polymers, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research
