Dr. Paulina Tapia Quirós

 

Scientific profile

Dr. Paulina Tapia Quirós graduated with a degree in Biotechnology Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora in México. Then, she obtained her M.Sc. degree in Food Science from the Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo A.C. in México, with a fellowship from the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). Later, she completed her PhD in Chemical Process Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, also funded by a CONACYT Fellowship. Her doctoral research focused on the recovery of phenolic compounds from olive mill and winery wastes, specifically through the evaluation of extraction and membrane processing technologies. Following her PhD, she was awarded a Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in collaboration with the Universitat de Barcelona, where she continued her research on the recovery of polyphenols from agro-industrial wastes, with a particular focus on olive leaves.
